Capstone

Introduction

The HEAL project is a gamified educational experience aimed to promote healthy habits among children aged 10-13. The game features a robot mascot guiding the player through mutliple minigames. The minigames tackle subjects such as sleep hygiene, nutrition and physical activity. By embedding education with fun gameplay, the HEAL project aims to improve children's awareness and provide teachers with data about their current habits.

Goal

Develope a gamified software solution to teach children about healthy lifestyle habits. The main goals were to teach children about quality of sleep, nutritional values, the role of physical activity and how these healthy aspects affect overall sleep. The game is hosted on the web and is mainly meant to be played on school computers. Additionally the game collects and sends gameplay and answer data in the form of a JSON to researchers.

Results

We achieved 9 minigames which cover various topics like sleep hygiene, balanced meals and excercise routines. A working game prototype is complete, featuring questions, data collection, player ID system and feedback driven design. Further developement includes testing with the target users and polishing tutorials and minigames.
