Goal

Salo is developing itself into a smart city. We need to show the benefits of smart gadgets to citizens of Salo. Smart home will be displayed at the facility in Lounea. We also make an air quality meter with arduino and display the air quality on a website. In addition we will show the parking spot availability on a website and on a phone app to make it easier for citizens to check out the information beforehand.

Results

We built a smart home demo room so the customers/citizens can check out the benefits of a smart home using the gadgets provided by Lounea and a software called Älykoti. We built a working prototype of the air quality sensor that displays the air quality in wanted areas like the waste incinerator area. We built a website that shows the air quality sensor information and simulated free parking spot data and a phone app that shows the free parking spots available.

Future development

We wrote a report for Lounea and the City of Salo about everything we did, so they can decide about the future of this project. The report also contained all of the source code, so it can be developed further if needed.
